Our restaurant conversion of what was reputed to have been the oldest bicycle shop in the country, had to be sympathetic to its origins and the pride that the local community had in its heritage, as well as deliver an efficiently planned restaurant.

We reorganised the interior of the four-level site to maximise its limited space. An intimate bar welcomes guests at the entrance and then opens up into a spacious warehouse restaurant with a retractable glazed roof and doors to a small courtyard dining garden.
Access to the first and second floors is via the original Georgian staircase leading to a private dining room, rest rooms and kitchens.

Interiors acknowledge the building’s origins with the existing brick walls and concrete floor finishes retained as a rough and ready authentic backdrop to stylish mid C20th furnishing.
The Old Bicycle Shop opened to much local acclaim and has quickly secured its reputation as a successful additional to the Cambridge restaurant scene.
