Our extensive refurbishment and renovation of this beautiful landmark building set within the city’s walls sought to secure its future, creating York’s only 5-star hotel

The Grand Hotel in York dates back to 1906, when it was built to house the headquarters of the new Great North Eastern Railway. Our extensive refurbishment and renovation of this beautiful landmark building set within the city’s walls sought to secure its future, creating York’s only 5-star hotel, renamed in 2014 as The Grand Hotel, York.

We retained the building’s original cellular office layout to create its 107 bedrooms, introducing bathroom accommodation, lifts and kitchen services. The large principal spaces on the ground and first floors are used to create a grand lobby and lounge, dining rooms and function spaces, with a new spa at basement level and beautiful garden terrace.
