Mackenzie Wheeler were tasked with developing a new look for Browns restaurants which since 1973 have become a UK dining institution. The new styling needed to retain the hallmark and iconic elements of the brand such as the palm plants, grand piano, clock, brass accents etc. but equally needed to move the brand into the contemporary arena of brasserie dining.

At the grade 2 listed site at Edinburgh, new colour schemes and patterns were introduced and the detail of everything from the walls and floors to the tables and chairs were used to emphasise the impressive architecture and lofty ceiling heights. Equally new warmer lighting and decoration were used to create and maximise the feeling of luxury and comfort.
